Allwyn Eyes Former Sainsbury’s Boss Justin King to Lead UK National Lottery Bid

A key contender in the European lottery market, Allwyn, has ambitious goals should they secure the bid for the UK’s National Lottery. They are considering Justin King, the former head of Sainsbury’s, a prominent supermarket company in the UK, to oversee their UK lottery endeavors.

King’s potential appointment depends on Allwyn being selected by the Gambling Commission as the favored operator to succeed Camelot. This is a crucial determination, as the National Lottery holds a substantial place in British society, generating funds for charitable initiatives nationwide.

King’s notable history of reshaping enterprises, especially his contribution to revitalizing Sainsbury’s, positions him as a compelling prospect. His extensive knowledge of British retail and his enthusiasm for rejuvenating town centers would be highly beneficial in managing the National Lottery’s expansive retail framework.

At present, King holds a position on Allwyn’s advisory council, showcasing his dedication to their aspirations for the National Lottery. Sir Keith Mills, Chair of Allwyn’s bid, views King’s expertise as an ideal match for the position, guaranteeing a seamless handover and a promising outlook for the National Lottery under Allwyn’s guidance.

Allwyns Chief Executive, Robert Chvátal, conveyed his excitement, noting that King brings a wealth of experience and a history of success. He emphasized that King’s knowledge will be essential as Allwyn takes on the mantle of National Lottery manager.

Echoing the sentiment, King expressed his eagerness to join the Allwyn team. He praised Allwyn’s remarkable record of improving lottery engagement and voiced confidence in the group’s international proficiency and the backing of Allwyn’s extensive European lottery system. He shared his honor in guiding Allwyn as the National Lottery administrator and playing a part in a fresh chapter for this important establishment.
