The Polaris Network, a significant entity in the digital sports media landscape, has targeted Latin America for expansion, recently purchasing the Chilean sports news platform, AlAireLibre.cl. This action represents the latest in a series of calculated acquisitions for Polaris, who recently strengthened their UK market position by obtaining MrFixitTips and SportsMole.co.uk.
AlAireLibre.cl, a well-regarded outlet recognized for its reporting on Chilean football and other athletic pursuits, was initially founded in 2018 by Grupo Cooperativo. This acquisition comes on the heels of Polaris’s procurement of Lakersbrasil.com earlier this year and their collaborations with several notable Brazilian soccer fan communities, including those supporting Flamengo, São Paulo, and Palmeiras.
Julian Josset, co-creator of Polaris Network, conveyed his excitement regarding the acquisition, remarking, “We are delighted to incorporate AlAireLibre into the Polaris fold. It’s a premier sports media entity in Latin America, and we are certain that by collaborating closely with the current staff and utilizing our proficiency, we can elevate it to new levels of success.”
Cooperativa Group CEO, Luis Ajenjo, stated, ‘Our journey with North Star Network, from our first encounters to this positive resolution, has been characterized by their expertise and commitment. We collaborated to overcome various challenges in this unique negotiation.’ He added, ‘We wish them the very best as AlAireLibre.cl begins its next phase.'”
The greenlighting of sports wagering in Brazil is generating excitement, with forecasts indicating a profitable regulated sports betting sector. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s endorsement of an interim measure in July to oversee this industry, along with additional legislative adjustments in the ensuing months, has set the stage for a bright future. Further bolstering this upward trajectory, the sector has also secured the endorsement of the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA).
