Polaris Entertainment Acquires Espacio Abierto to Expand Latin American Presence

Polaris Entertainment has considerably broadened its reach within Latin America through the purchase of Espacio Abierto, a well-known Chilean athletic news outlet. Espacio Abierto, recognized for its extensive reporting on Chilean football, was formerly held by the Cooperativa Group. This calculated action aligns with Polaris Entertainment’s ambitious goal of becoming a dominant sports media force within the area.

This acquisition represents the most recent in a series of purchases made by Polaris Entertainment, showcasing their dedication to swift expansion. They recently obtained UK-based platforms MrFixitTips and SportsMole.co.uk to strengthen their standing in the British market.

Polaris Entertainment’s Latin American growth also encompasses the April 2023 acquisition of Lakersbrasil.com, a center for Los Angeles Lakers enthusiasts in Brazil. Furthermore, they have established collaborations with several prominent Brazilian football club fan websites, including NotciasDoMengao.com.br (Flamengo), PortalDoSaoPaulino.com.br (São Paulo), and PortalDoPalmeirense.com.br (Palmeiras).

Julian Josset, co-creator of Polaris Entertainment, conveyed his excitement regarding the acquisition, remarking, “Espacio Abierto stands as a frontrunner in Latin American sports media, and we shall collaborate closely with the current staff and our internal specialists to elevate this brand to unprecedented levels.”

Cooperativa’s leader, Luis Ajenjo, conveyed his contentment with the agreement, commending North Star Network for their expertise and commitment. He recognized the unique aspects of the deal and the obstacles they jointly surmounted. Ajenjo finished by expressing his hopes for North Star Network’s prosperity with their latest endeavor, AlAireLibre.cl.

This purchase arrives at a critical juncture for the Brazilian sports wagering sector. With the current legalization initiatives, the industry is set for substantial expansion. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s temporary decree in July, succeeded by additional regulatory enhancements, has established a path for a controlled and open betting landscape. This action has also received endorsement from the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA), indicating a dedication to ethical gaming principles.
