888poker is boosting its environmental responsibility! They’ve teamed up with Ecosec, a firm recognized for its environmentally sound security containers, to swap out those outdated plastic chip holders with a compostable option.
These new sacks will be visible at all future 888Live poker competitions, commencing with the one in Barcelona from May 12th to 23rd. It’s a minor adjustment that yields a significant impact, averting over 130kg of disposable plastic from winding up in garbage dumps. This represents a substantial stride towards 888’s objective of achieving complete carbon neutrality by 2030.
Shai Tabibian, 888’s B2C head, views this collaboration as mutually beneficial. It’s not merely positive for the environment, but also a prudent move for their enterprise. This marks the inaugural instance of biodegradable pouches being utilized at a major poker gathering – an indication of the favorable transformations occurring within the sector.
A prominent poker personality, Karim Lewis, expressed his views: “The concept of addressing plastic pollution in poker has been simmering in my mind since I began coordinating poker tournaments. It dawned on me that chip containers, though crucial for chip organization, are also a considerable contributor to waste. My group is uniquely positioned to champion environmentally sound methods throughout the sector.”
He added, “We are delighted to join forces with 888poker for the inaugural time, supplying these groundbreaking and eco-conscious chip sacks. We anticipate working together on upcoming gatherings.”
