US Sports Fans Gear Up for Record-Breaking World Cup Betting Frenzy

A new analysis from BettorOff showed that almost 50% of US sports enthusiasts intend to wager on the forthcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup.

A noteworthy observation is that 18% of these supporters will be putting down money on soccer for the very first time. Even more revealing, a significant 75% of these novices are considering continuing to bet on soccer beyond the World Cup’s conclusion.

The research polled 1,500 adult sports enthusiasts across 21 US states and the District of Columbia, all areas where online sports wagering is permitted.

Additional significant takeaways from the poll include: a large portion of fans (68%) aim to maintain relatively small wagers, betting under $200 throughout the entire competition (November 20 to December 18).

Although more than 25% of those polled indicated they would be betting on each and every match, a slim majority (51%) will concentrate their bets on particular squads. A small yet devoted 13% are solely interested in wagering on games involving the United States team.

Lastly, in spite of the tournament’s setting in Qatar and the resulting time zone discrepancies, a substantial 79% of these sports fans stated they would continue to place bets even if they were unable to view the matches live.

To illustrate the magnitude, FIFA approximated that the 2018 World Cup witnessed an astounding $146 billion in worldwide wagers. At that time, only three US states – Nevada, Delaware, and New Jersey – provided legal sports betting, and even then, it was primarily restricted to physical venues.

“There’s a captivating convergence between escalating interest and prospects surrounding the World Cup,” remarked Alex Dubin, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of BettorOff.

As the thrill surrounding professional soccer in the United States intensifies, particularly with the ongoing Leagues Cup, and the rising prevalence of digital sports wagering, this World Cup appears poised to be a monumental occasion for enthusiasts and gamblers nationwide.”
