The gaming sector in Denmark is experiencing a period of growth, with overall earnings for the initial two months of 2022 hitting 1.57 billion Danish kroner (approximately $227 million), marking a 16% rise compared to the corresponding timeframe in the previous year.
This surge was driven by a rebound in income from physical casinos and gaming machines, which experienced a resurgence in January and February 2022 following a downturn. Conversely, internet-based gambling witnessed a minor decrease in earnings.
The generally favorable trajectory indicates that the Danish gambling market is steadily recuperating in the aftermath of disruptions caused by the pandemic.
The Danish gaming industry is bouncing back following a challenging 2021, during which pandemic restrictions caused the closure of casinos and gambling establishments for a significant portion of the year. Internet-based gambling profits skyrocketed, exceeding DKK 40 billion, a substantial increase from the negligible amount the previous year. Physical casinos also resumed revenue generation, bringing in DKK 31 million in February after a January closure.
