Nevada Gambling Revenue Surges in February

Nevadas gambling income continued its upward trend in February, hitting $1.34 billion (1.07 billion pounds/1.25 billion euros), representing an 8.5% jump from the same period last year. This surge was spurred by a significant expansion in the baccarat sector.

Nevadas gambling revenue reached $1.34 billion in February, a substantial increase compared to the $1.24 billion recorded in February of the previous year. This figure also signifies a 4.7% rise from January’s $1.28 billion, marking the most robust start to a year in Nevada’s history.

Slot machines generated the highest revenue this month, reaching $827.6 million, a slight increase of 0.6% from 2023. Of this total, $536.6 million originated from multi-denominational slot machine games, while $207.6 million came from penny slots.

However, only multi-denominational slot machine games reported growth in February. All other game categories within this segment experienced a decrease in revenue.

Baccarat emerged as the fastest-growing area in February. Revenue in this area surged by 75.5%, reaching $180.1 million. Blackjack revenue also saw a notable increase of 15.6%, hitting $132.5 million, while craps revenue expanded by 22.0%, reaching $44.7 million.

Other areas of growth included Ultimate Texas Hold’em, which witnessed a 4.4% increase in revenue, reaching $18 million, and Pai Gow Poker, which grew by 4.7%, reaching $10.4 million.

Nevada hosted the Super Bowl, and sports betting revenue climbed accordingly.
In February, Nevada hosted this year’s Super Bowl. The culmination of the NFL season took place at Allegiant Stadium, with the Kansas City Chiefs emerging victorious over the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 25-22.

During the month of February, the amount of money collected from sports betting pools remained consistent at $47.9 million. It is noteworthy that American football only contributed $12 million to this total.

For those running the betting operations, basketball was the most lucrative sport, bringing in $24.7 million in earnings. An additional $4.3 million was generated from hockey wagers, and $7.7 million from other sporting events, although baseball betting resulted in a loss of $929,000. It is important to note that $23.8 million of the total sports betting pool revenue originated from mobile betting.

In February, the revenue generated by the Las Vegas Strip surpassed $800 million.
As for the Las Vegas Strip, revenue for February reached $800.7 million, a 12.4% increase compared to the same period last year.

Slot machine revenue for the month reached $381 million, a decrease of 2.4%. Consistent with statewide trends, multi-denominational slot machines were the only category to report growth, while all other game types experienced revenue declines.

In contrast, revenue from table, counter, and card games increased by 30.3% to $419.7 million. Notable highlights included baccarat revenue rising by 81.9% to $180.5 million, and blackjack revenue increasing by 20.8% to $107.8 million. As for sports betting pool revenue, it rose by 9.9% in February to $24.7 million.
