Ontarios fresh online gambling overseer has unveiled regulations for the channel as the province’s market readies for its debut, outlining a prohibition on automated play and a minimum spin duration of two and a half seconds for slot machines.
The provincial administration established iGaming Ontario last week, a branch of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), which has now set forth the guidelines for virtual casino games.
At present, only the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation is authorized to provide online gambling, but this will shift as the province prepares to open up the market.
A number of rules will be put in place concerning game design, including a ban on automatic play for slot machines.
The regulations state: “Participants should be personally engaged in each game, releasing and then pressing the ‘start button’ or taking a comparable action.”
