The Massachusetts Gaming Authority (MGA) has concluded the process of receiving applications for fresh sports wagering permits within the state. Fifteen organizations have submitted their requests for these authorizations.
The MGA received three applications for Category 1 permits, five applications for Category 3 permits that also encompass Category 1 permits, and six applications for Category 3 permits exclusively. The cutoff date for applications was 2 p.m. on November 21st.
One business also applied for a Category 3 permit that includes a Category 2 permit. The MGA observed that Category 2 permits are solely available to existing racetracks or simulcast facilities and will be accepted on an ongoing basis following the deadline.
