UK Gaming Authority: Issue Gaming Rate Stays at 0.2%
The issue gaming rate for the entire populace was 0.2% in the six months to June 30. This figure remained stable compared to the level of 0.4% in the six months to June 2021.

Among men surveyed, the issue gaming rate was 0.3%. While lower than the previous year, the Gaming Commission noted that this change was not statistically significant.

Among women, the issue gaming rate remained completely stable at 0.1%.

The issue gaming rate for the 16-24 age group was 0.8%, an increase, but again, this change was not statistically significant.

For the 25-34 age group, the issue gaming rate was 0.3%, while for the 35-44 age group, it was 0.2%.

There were no members of the 45-54 age group who participated in the study who were classified as issue gamblers.

A comprehensive survey encompassing 596 individuals from the designated group was conducted.

The overall percentage for the 55-64 age bracket also registered at 0.2%. For the concluding age category recorded – 65 years and older – the percentage stood at 0.1%.

The survey additionally unveiled that 42.9% of all participants had engaged in gambling activities within the preceding four weeks.

This figure exhibited a higher rate for the 45-54 age group, reaching 49.1%.

A total of 25.8% of respondents indicated that they had participated in online gambling within the past four weeks. Once again, this proportion reached its peak among the 45-54 age group, at 33.2%.

Of all respondents, 27.5% had taken part in the National Lottery in the past four weeks.

The UK Gambling Commission is presently devising a novel methodology for gauging the prevalence of gambling and the rates of problematic gambling. However, this approach has faced criticism as the survey appears to over-represent gamblers, potentially exaggerating the reported level of harm.
